We are currently creating content for this section. In order to be able to keep up with our high standards of service, we need a little more time. Please stop by again. Thank you for your interest!  I sadly found this Historical Collection for sale from a dealer in ebay!!

Cliff Jayne is far left look in other parts of this site to find info on the others.

With thanks to Steve Wedgbury, his Dad's ACU Centre Trial Cert. after getting a Second Class rating at Brynmawr, just look where he became from that little start, it is great to see where people start as well.  Little things recording this type of info show how & what was going on in those days.

St Davids Day 1942 Services Trial Cups, C Jayne of Brynmawr had one heckuva Haul in his Competition Career

Neath Challenge Cup 1937? C Jayne in the Monmouthshire HG Team and Sand Racer J Mills in the Neath team too.

A closer look shows J. Mills the Pendine Sand & Aberavon Beach etc Races winner in the Neath HG Team, with Cliff Jayne of Brynmawr in the Monmouth HG side.  I bought this a few days ago on ebay and in spite of the EPNS long polished lovingly away would love to know the background of other listed riders whist if it wd be treated well I wd love to present it to Ponthir or Llanishen Club as annually awarded prize for a Vintage Machine Restorer to keep the historic connection intact.

Newport Gwent Neath Ravenswood etc etc etc

Cyril Watson who helps immensely finding Mid Wales & far further afield pics & data & was a competitor himself, seen here on his 250 VO DOT (Vale Onslow) at the Scramble, held at Graig Farm at Llanfair Waterdine Knighton 1966 part of car park in the background shows how such events were attended his number, 142 (my centre number was 149) those were the days!.

West SW man Geoff Lewis, with passenger Ian Cargill on that very same Norton machine (built by Roger Maughling) & against which I raced many moons ago still being used & speeding to second spot in the 2007 THUNDERSPRINT event, A:- 'er indoors wd not let me out to do such, plus B:-I'd probably try to show off and make an utter mess of things.  Thanks again to Cyril Watson seen above for a picture from the past' still going.

The man who took pity on an impoverished apprentice, built a racing outfit chassis for us & a motor from bits the fast men were chucking out after the season & helped us get amongst the fast guys I had only read of.   we could never 'let on at the time...  Here is OWEN GREENWOOD & that Mini which I had derided & begged him to stick to 'proper' chairs..

Owen Greenwood with Terry Fairbrother in action at first outing at Mallory in 1965 after which with mods it ruled 3 wheel racing for many many moons.

The TRINOR of mine built by Owen Greenwood, after a season on a battered Ariel Sq 4 following fast machines home this became bliss, that is me checking exhaust pipes, they needed a check & small tightening each heat etc. Do you like my pre alloy methanol tank. We now learn this is at Carmarthen Park 7 June 1965.

Genuine Roger Maughfling driven & Larry Gough pic thanks to Cyril Watson circa 1963, Roger Maughfling was the benefactor who built those leading link forks for me for nothing in a few days, what a difference they made.

Later, that Outfit Roger Maughfling and Owen Greenwood helped me get together with Smokey Dawson's generosity too:-   Lynn Isaac Driving with Passenger Ken Jones at Carmarthen Park 1967 leading I think Alan Artus & Lawson Crisp. Roger Maughfling built the forks of that machine otherwise built by Owen Greenwood for Ken Jones & myself following me buying a twisted frame only at a Myer Davies dockside scrapyard near Morfa Llanelli in 1964. grudgingly for a fiver (£5).   Owen was amazingly helpful to a 'broke' apprentice, firstly getting us cast off but still useable after season racers' bits for us to nurse for a season racing using 'fast bits, Smokey Dawson who owned DMW was having a 'bad patch' turned up whilst we were with Owen at his Thurmaston place, & kindly said that he may be going bust but even he sent us from Owen's workshop to Monmore Green Tubing co to get offcuts of Chrome Moly tubing & we returned with a bundle of tubing bits for Owen to build it after dashing to Rugby to get my hero, Mick 'Wrecker' Adams's outfit measurements!!.  P.S. we only had Jeff Nunn's cast off teles with altered trail, for our first race at Royal Welsh Show 1965, Roger saw us somehow scraping a win of those Cups in a (lovely for us!!) wet meeting & told me that he could get us to go faster than that!.  Disbelief & HOW? followed fm moi & Roger took our outfit away from a muddy paddock & we picked it up 2 days later enroute to race over weekend on the Borders & Midlands meetings as far faster folk in minds at least!.
